St. George's Day – the procession (litany)

To this day, according to the ancent tradition, on the main feasts of the Monastery – 23 April/6 May and 3/16 November - a procession (litany) is made with the second miraculous icon of St. George, the Arabian one, with the church bells ringing, from the Katholikon to the church on the opposite hill and back. Along the way, stops are made at significant places and the Gospel is read. 
Anyone who wishes is allowed to bear the icon for a while during the procession. 
If there is rain, then the procession is postponed until the following day.
